Make Up & Beauty: May's Fav!

It's been ages. we know it and we feel it and We're sorry. Its been a hectic few months but we're back now for good. With a little rescheduling and prioritizing, I'm sure things will work out better than before.

Its been 5 months to be exact and there are loads to review about. However, we're going to take this a step at a time.

I'm going to start with my current favs for the month of May.

Currently, I'm obsessed with bronzers. I never leave the house without it and Its a must have!

I had my fair share of bronzers but currently I am really pleased with MAC's Bronzing Powder.

MAC's Bronzing Powder in Bronze.
It comes in two shades, Golden and Bronze.

The one I am currently using is the one in Bronze. It is slightly darker and it shows better on darker skin tone like mine. Golden will definitely look better on anyone with fairer skin.

It is light, sheer and very subtle. The pigmentation is not very heavy but it leaves a nice fresh natural looking glow to your face which is always very exciting.

It can be used for contouring or..... just sweep a little on your cheeks for that extra glow.

Its compact, affordable and absolutely amazing!

The next MAC product that I am currently using daily is their Studio Fix Compact Foundation in NC42. It is a must get if you like things fast and easy!

Studio Fix in NC42.
Just pack on a little on face and your ready to go. The coverage is amazing! A little goes a long way.

It is long-lasting, light, easy to apply, silky and covers really well.

Last but definitley not the least, I am in LOVE with Mac's Haute & Naughty Lash Mascara. Personally, I believe this is every girls must have! If you don't have this mascara, then your seriously missing out in life. It is that amazing!

Haute & Naughty Lash by MAC.
It gives you the ability to do a light look for the day and a darker, more smoldered look for the evenings.

Essentially there 2 ways of applying it, you can also control how much goes on for the kind of look you want.

It does not clump, flake or make your eye itchy plus, it comes off easily with makeup remover.
I swear by this mascara!

Those would have to be my favorite MAC products for this month. There would be more to come in the coming months or so and that is something that we are very excited about.

I hope you have enjoyed this post and have a great weekend everyone! :)

                                                                                                                                             Author: Hanna

                                Picture : fuckyeahnailart.tumblr.com

HAPPY NEW YEARS EVERYONE!! It's 2012!!

Well, not yet but in a few hours it will be. Aren't ya all excited?!

So much has happened in 2011 that it is totally unbelievable that the year has come to an end. It came so quick and left in a dash. But that's how life is, things come and go even when you don't realise it. 2011 has been great and too end it off,

Here are some simple tips for you to make your look work on New years Eve:

1. Prime, Prime, Prime especially your eyelids

    - it avoids any creasing or blotches on your eye
    - plus, it enhances your eyeshadow

2. Do not skip or skimp on foundation as it will give you a flawless complexion  to look fabulous throughout the night

   - I suggest using your favorite foundation or something your comfortable with as you wouldn't want to try something unfamiliar to your face when you want to look your best

3. Apply powder for extra staying power

    - Powder lightly to avoid looking too cakey on the face
    - Use compact or loose powder, whichever your comfortable with

4. Be bold and loud this NYE by having you Lips accented with reds, pinks or even orange

    - Line your lip for a clean and finish look
    - Finish with a lil bit of gloss or not for a matte finish

5. Try Faux lashes

    - They make your eyes appear larger
    - And give them a pop of brightness
    - Don't forget to finish with mascara

6. And Finally, a touch of bronzer to warmify you look giving the final accents of the evening

With all this in place, you are guaranteed to look fab and picture ready throughout the last hours of 2011, greeting 2012
with a bang!

I hope you like it and have a blast!

2011, will be missed!

Hair & Beauty: Ombre Hair.

                                                                                                                                            Author: Hanna

Picture from Google.com

Ombre hair is when the ends of your hair graduate to another colour, usually lighter and blonder. It is one of this year's hottest trends and the word ombre is basically French for shadow.

It took me a while to actually attempt it as I was not a ballsy as I thought I was. However, after watching most of the DIY tutorials on youtube and much support, I decided to go for it! What could go wrong right? And even if it does, just dye it back.

It was a long and tedious process for me but it I must say it'd payed off.

I did my ombre highlights in 3 easy steps in 3 days. A step a day.

Why? Because I didn't want to dry out in my hair especially the ends by over dying it in a day. You could however, do it all in a day at the same time if you want. There's no harm in it.

So lets get to it.

Firstly, I darken my hair with Loreal's Colour Intense in Dark Chocolate to start with a dark base.

Dark Chocolate.
Secondly, I bleached the bottom half of my hair using:

Gatsby Ex-Hi Bleach

Which turn out like this:

yes, it was on fire!
Finally, I softened that fire area with:

Revlon's Colour Silk in 74

And there it is, you ombre hair

Ombre Hair!

Style as desire and you're ready to rock out that hair!
Its really easy to do and you could adjust the variation of your highlights as you like it to be. Be experimental and you'll achieved your desired result.

It's fun and cheap and also a good way to look fabulous on Christmas and New Year.
Try it! :)

Hope you like it!

Beauty & Make Up / Tips & Tricks: M.A.C Club Eyeshadow

Author: Shahidah

Picture: Onsugar

Club eyeshadow by M.A.C is a unique, and lovely shade. It has a duochrome finish, meaning that it's basically two colours and when its reflected in the light, you will see either/or brown/green.

First Impressions:

"AAAAAH, ITS SO PRETTY!! GIMME!!"

My screams may have annoyed everyone at M.A.C but so what? I was happy. And really, isn't my happiness all that matters in this world and other universes alike? (That was a rhetorical question. )

Applying it with a blending brush (M.A.C 217), I noticed that wherever I had applied Club, (on my eyelid area) was brown. Just brown. A shitty brown, at that. And the brown was kinda sheer. There's nothing worse than a shit, sheer brown. An overall disappointment, really. Which brings my to my next point:

How to make make your club eyeshadow (brown AND green) show up on your eyes:

  • Eyeshadow primer.
I ALWAYS use one, do you want to walk around with splotchy eye make up? Do you like looking at yourself in the mirror of a swanky bathroom and realise that there's oil on the crease of your lids and that you're face has decided to best buds with your eyeshadows? Didn't think so. The best eyshadow primer I've used so far is, Too Faced Shadow Insurance and thankfully, you can get this at Sephora.

Picture: Sephora.com

  • Brushes.
Secondly, consider what brush you're using for the application. Try using a stiffer brush to pack on the colour. The kind of brushes you use to apply your make up does make a difference. My brushes are usually from M.A.C and they've lasted me two years. Except for one that I accidentally fully immersed in water (3 weeks) BIG MISTAKE!.

Picture: emanmakeup.blogspot.

  • Technique
Instead of using the usual windshield wiper technique, try to pat on the colour with your brush instead. This will help with the building up of the shadow, thus more a more opaque colour on your lids.

After following these steps, and when you start to see the lovely green overlay, then you'll stop being so pissy with the shitty brown and see why Club is quite a pretty cool and unique shade. Though, I wish it was a touch pigmented.

This is the result of how Club looks when heavily packed on:

Cool huh?

Shahidah

Make Up & Beauty: M.A.C Pro Longwear Foundation / Ode to Nicki Minaj

Author: Shahidah

Oy vey! I'm back with my latest review!!

Okay, so we last left you with a review from Hanna and her HD foundation (got a nice ring to it, don't it?). I have been wanting to purchase this HD foundation but unfortunately I came aross this review that suggested that it wasn't quite suited for oily skin.. much like most products. After crying about a thousand tears and eating a tub Ben & Jerry's Clusterfluff, I went on my search for a new foundation.

The foundation that I'm looking for would tell the oil on my skin to fuck off and wait until I get home and wash the make up of my face, would conceal most blemishes and photograph well. But no, that's more like a miracle. But I needed to get something close to this.

After reading up on a couple more reviews online, I decided that M.A.C's Pro Longwear Foundation would be my best bet. So yada yada and I bought it. Yay!

Choosing the right shade:

First, I knew about how the shade varied and went for a shade lighter. I tried it out at the store too, to make sure that it was the right colour. I'm usually an NC 40 - NC 42 (depends.. time and tans change.) But I got an NC 35 instead. The make up artist even tried to ask me if I wanted to try NC37 and I was like, "Bitch please. I know what I'm doing."

Okay, fine. I didnt say that. But I was adamant that NC35 was my shade and thus that was the shade I had purchased.

First impressions:

First, I would like to talk about packaging. I was surprised to see that the bottle came with a pump. And by surprised I mean anal. First of all, I would like to stress how particular I am about pump packaging.

Cons to pump packaging:

  • Sometimes the pump itself pumps out alot more product than you really need. = WASTE of money and product!
  • Sometimes the product clogs up the pump feature and you end up making a huge ass mess. Plus, foundation in your hair and eyes is never a good look! Seriously.
Pros:

  • Convenience

And I was a little mortified to see that the foundation had oxidised a hella lot and looked a little orangey! Shocking, it didn't look like that in the store! But I gave this sucker a chance anyway and you know what?

I really, really like this foundation.

The texture was a little strange. Like sticky but not sticky. Plus, it left a weird film on my brush. But it didn't look orangey. The pump only gave out a small amount, and 2 pumps was all I needed for my entire face. But depending on the coverage you want (totes buildable, by the way!) you might need more than just 2 pumps. Oy!

It photographs really well too. My best photographing buddy, The Sun was out today cause it rained like a mother. I had to use flash photography instead. (Cringe, I know.) And while taking the pictures, I was surprised at the coverage and how nice it look. Even with an SPF of 10,  I love that it didn't give my face a white cast like some foundations do. I wore it for 4 hours.. There was a slight shine to my forehead, but not as much as it normally does with other foundations.

I think this is my favourite new foundation next to Studio Fix Fluid. Great job, M.A.C!

I hope our reviews are useful to those of you out there looking for new foundations!

Yours,
Shahidah

See the difference in their shades? And they're both NC35!

Make Up And Beauty: Make Up For Ever HD Foundation.

                                                                                                                                               Author: Hanna

i has HD on!

Make Up For Ever HD Foundation is amaaaazing. I have use it for a week now and I am totally in love with it. I'm not sure on how to convince you of its amazing-ness but what i will do is give you ten worthy reasons on why its sooo goood!
And let you decide!

So here it goes:

1. It's light on the face.
2. Easy application with you fingers or brush or both
3. Has a nice glow-y finish to it
4. It lasts the whole day.
5. It keeps you looking fresh all day.
6. It does not streak or blotch under the sun.
7. With two pumps, you can get full coverage.
8. Photographs beautifully
9. Does not oxidize
10. And,there's a variety of shades from you to choose from leaving you with The Perfect Match

And with every good comes the bad.

This foundation is not suitable with anyone with oily skin and
it does not have any SPF in it.

I wont say that it is THE greatest foundation around soo far but its good enough for me and it photographs astonishingly well! (What more can a girl ask for right?!)

I am extremely excited and happy with this purchase therefore, I thought I'd share it with the world.

I hope you'll like it as much as I do cos it's totally worth it.
